Insurance analysts estimate that 80% of residential hurricane damage begins with wind entry into the garage.
During a hurricane or severe storm, your home can be breached if wind forces cause the garage door to buckle or lift out of its tracks. When this opening is created, air pressure within your home can cause catastrophic structure failure.
Many popular products now have windload-rated reinforcements. These doors comply with various approval agencies, including the Florida Building Code, ICC (International Code Council) TDI (Texas Department of Insurance) and Dade County (FL). During an extreme wind event, storm driven debris can dent, deform or even penetrate ordinary garage doors. These garage doors have been tested and approved for impact resistance.
We offer both hurricane defense garage doors and windload-rated garage doors.
